(April 14, 2023; Jacksonville, Fla.) — A.WordSmith, a Jacksonville-based boutique marketing-communications agency, is honored to have received a coveted platinum 2023 Hermes Creative Award, in the Print Media category, for the development of a corporate brochure on behalf of its client SHADOWCAT. This year there were more than 6,500 Hermes Award entries from the United States, Canada, and other countries.
SHADOWCAT is a leading developer of bespoke support yachts targeting Ultra-High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs). As SHADOWCAT’s agency partner since 2021, A.WordSmith led the company’s total re-brand. With SHADOWCAT’s yachts costing multi-millions of dollars, A.WordSmith understood that all new collateral must be developed with premium aesthetics, materials and creativity. A.WordSmith’s efforts involved a total brand refresh (including elevated logo, collateral and digital assets) and the award-winning A4 corporate brochure printed asset, as shown below.
“Being a Platinum Award winner is a tremendous achievement. AMCP judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry,” said Ed Dalheim, a representative of the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), the organization that administers the Hermes Creative Awards.
“I am extremely proud of all of the work that A.WordSmith produces, but especially the rebranded collateral for SHADOWCAT. What we’ve created is alluring, memorable and helps to build strong brand equity for my client,” said Amelia Smith, founder and president/CEO of A.WordSmith Communications. “I thank AMCP for the honor and recognition.”
Smith and her partner graphic designer Jon Scherf worked closely together on SHADOWCAT’s rebrand and A4 brochure design. The printed piece features an all-black cover with a subtle, yet eye-catching, spot gloss UV coating placed over the logo, which runs vertically up the front cover. This hard-to-miss detail nods to the “shadow” portion of the name, giving the brochure a dark, sexy and high-end look. When the trifold brochure is opened, the viewer is treated to a flood of full-color professional images and compelling copy. Metallic gold spot ink helps headlines pop against the dramatic dark page backgrounds.
This new brochure is used in tandem with the other re-branded pieces and has been reprinted twice with only minor updates. Paired company collateral similarly uses all-black rich saturations, spot gloss logo treatments, spot gold inks and/or gold foils, and floods of professional full-color images. It has been used for business development purposes during the Monaco Yacht Show, the Dubai International Yacht Show, the Abu Dhabi International Yacht Show, Fort Laurderdale International Yacht Show, Palm Beach International Yacht Show and other worldwide events.
