A.WordSmith now a certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise

It’s official! A.WordSmith has been certified as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) by Florida’s Office of Supplier Diversity. While the company was founded as a woman-owned business and has operated as such for the past three years, this official State designation is important for three main reasons:

  1. Businesses that partner with WBEs, like A.WordSmith, may be able to take advantage of reduced U.S. Federal tax liabilities. These are available to businesses using minorities supplying labor or services to a project funded with federal or state grants or loans.
  2. As a supporter of supplier diversity, your business is more attractive to corporations seeking suppliers/partners that work with women-owned businesses.
  3. By working with a women-owned business your company shows its commitment to working in diverse markets, which is important to the economy and is one marker of a healthy company culture.

“A.WordSmith is honored to join the ranks of other certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprises in Florida and across the country,” said A.WordSmith’s founder and owner Amelia Smith. “I look forward to serving my clients in this new official capacity and I appreciate the tremendous opportunity for expansion that this certification affords my growing business.”

In order to qualify for this WBE certification, businesses must be owned and manged in Florida, be at least 51 percent owned and managed by a woman, and be actively engaged in commercial transactions, among other criteria. A.WordSmith opened its doors in 2016 and now offers integrated marketing, communications and content services from its base in Jacksonville.
